When completing my master's program to become a Physician Assistant (PA), it was time to start finding tools to get ready for boards. Multiple sources were used including Hippo Education (and no, it is not about hippos), but as a student the search for free information was key. Enter my first podcast ever, the Physician Assistant Exam Review (PAER). PAER is hosted by Brian Wallace. He started out as a biology and chemistry teacher at the high school level. He then went to school to become a PA. Now, he works in surgery and helps other PAs pass their board exams.
Brian has written a book called The Final Step in addition to his podcasts. His site, like this one, also includes information for PAs to access other tools to study for boards such as websites and books. The site and podcasts are well organized with a breakdown by subject area. Using a blueprint provided by the certification group, Brian tries to cover the topics in detail. When studying for boards, the information matched well with what was provided by Hippo Education. In addition, Brian spends a lot of time on study tips and helping get through the stress of these exams. Listening to this podcast really opened me up to the world of FOAMED. From there I went to other podcasts and now have a hard time keeping up with the information. Had it not been for trying to study for boards, FOAMED may still be something I am not aware about and for that I think Brian for his dedication to educating those in the PA world.
